This 4 hour workshop includes interactive software to help you create your budgets and project your financials. Learn how to forecast sales and revenue, create a cash flow budget, determine the time to secure funding, use financial statements to develop business plans, make better management decisions and set financial performance goals.

Business Planning for Success

Learn the basics of developing a comprehensive Business Plan for a business start-up, expansion or to acquire financing. Information also provided about how to access small business assistance from the SBDC and other state and local resources.

Contracting with Style

Contracts don't have to be long and boring to be effective. The best contracts are simple, well understood and effective tools for relationship-building. Attend this session and learn how to make your contracting process a business development tool instead of a chore.

Insurance Basics

Insurance Basics: How to Protect Your Health & Assets. This class will answer important questions such as: What insurance do you really need? What are the differences between group and individual policies? Do I need Worker Comp Insurance? What are COBRA and HSA and are they right for me? Right Start Docs

This two-hour workshop is for multiple owner businesses and led by an attorney-at-law. Learn the importance of By-laws/Operating Agreements, Buy/See Agreements, Articles of Incorporation / Organization, Subscription Agreements and Stock Certificates for multi-owner businesses.

Right Start I -Business Registration & Entity Selection

This early morning two-hour workshop will include: business registration and forms (with an on-line demo); business entity-type selection; and other timely tips every prospective entrepreneur needs before starting a new business venture.

Right Start II - Taxes & Record Keeping

Step-by-step guidelines for business record keeping and tax filing (including sales, use tax and payroll taxes) will be presented for different business entities. Get the latest information from a practicing Certified Public Accountant.

Small Business Marketing

Guest presenter is CSU Marketing Professor, Doug Hoffman. Participants will learn the basics of developing and implementing an effective marketing plan! Discuss also the different marketing strategies to GROW a business.

Trademarks & Copyrights

Most businesses are intimately familiar with the importance of intellectual property law, especially the patent regime. However, many wonderfully creative businesses tend to overlook the importance of the other intellectual property regimes that might impact the successful market implementation of their genius: trademark and copyright. Trademark law protects the investment in the brand, including non-functional design elements of an invention. Copyright protects the creative expression of an author's ideas. This session that will round out your understanding of the interrelationships of intellectual property law.
